Bone broth is not only a delicious and comforting drink but also packed with nutrients and health benefits!

Some of the key nutrients found in bone broth include collagen, which is beneficial for joint health and skin elasticity, as well as amino acids like glycine and proline, which support gut health and the immune system. Additionally, bone broth is a good source of minerals such as calcium, magnesium, and phosphorus, which are essential for bone health and overall well-being.

Instructions to make the bone broth:

1. Rub the bones with olive oil and place them in the oven at 400°F (200°C) for about 30 minutes or until they're beautifully browned.

2. Place the beef bones in a large stockpot and cover with water.

3. Add chopped carrots, onions, celery, garlic, bay leaves, a cinnamon stick, and whole black peppercorns to the pot.

4. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat and let it simmer for at least 12 hours (the longer, the better!).

5. Skim off any foam that rises to the surface during cooking.

6. Once the broth is done simmering, strain it through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth to remove any solids.

7. Allow the broth to cool before storing it in the refrigerator or freezer or starting the canning process.

Preserving the Goodness: Canning Bone Broth in Jars

1. Sterilize your canning jars and lids by boiling them in water for 10 minutes.

2. Bring the bone broth to a boil and slowly fill the sterilized jars, leaving about 3-fingers headspace from the lid.

3. Wipe the rims of the jars with a clean, damp cloth to ensure a good seal.

4. Place the lids on the jars and screw on the bands until fingertip tight.

5. Boil the jars with the bone broth for an additional 60 minutes.

6. Once the processing time is complete, carefully remove the jars from the water and place them on a towel to cool.

7. Allow the jars to cool completely before storing them in the refrigerator.
